Crowdsourced Sinhala and Tamil Speech Data - Licence Terms

These license terms (“License Terms”) apply to the data sets made available on Dr. Uthayasanker Thayasivam's website (http://rtuthaya.lk/). By clicking “accept”, requesting access, and/or otherwise accessing the Data Sets, you agree to be bound by these License Terms. If you do not agree to be bound by these License Terms, you are not permitted to access the Data Sets.

1. License

	Dr. Thayasivam grants you a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, personal, non-transferable license (the “License”) to :

		(a) use, copy, reproduce for internal purposes, integrate, modify, display internally, train algorithms or models on, experiment with, or otherwise conduct private research on, the Data Sets, either on an unmodified basis, with modifications, or as part of a larger work;

		(b) publish and/or make available the unmodified Data Sets, including as part of a larger work, to the academic and/or research community for further use in accordance with the License.

	This License is granted exclusively for non-commercial academic and/or research purposes. It precludes any commercial or related use, distribution, or marketing, whether for free or for a charge, including any use of the Data Sets to train algorithms or models used for commercial applications or products.

2. Obligations

	As consideration for the License granted above, any publication of the unmodified Data Sets shall be allowed only under the terms of the License. You must inform any further recipients that use of the Data Sets is governed by the License Terms, and provide them with a copy of them. 

	You must also include a full citation to the paper in which the Data Sets were initially published by Dr. Thayasivam in any publication.

3. Disclaimer

	The Data Sets are provided “as is” and free from any warranty of any kind, either express, implied, or statutory, including, without limitations, warranties that the Data Sets are free of defects, merchantable, fit for a particular purpose or non-infringing. The entire risk as to the quality and performance of the Data Sets is with you. Should the Data Sets prove defective in any respect, you will assume the cost of any necessary servicing, repair, or correction. This disclaimer of warranty constitutes an essential part of these License Terms.

4. Indemnification

	You agree to fully indemnify and defend Dr. Thayasivam for any and all third party claim, demand or proceedings and all related judgments, liabilities, sanctions, awards, damages, costs, including reasonable attorneys’ fees and expenses, arising out of or in connection with, your use of the Data Sets, including any intellectual property claims or claims relating to misuse of personal data or non-compliance with applicable privacy laws.

5. Limitation of Liability

	To the fullest extent permitted by law, Dr. Thayasivam shall have no liability to you for any direct, indirect, special, incidental or consequential damages of any character.

6. Termination

	The rights granted under these License Terms will terminate automatically if you fail to comply with any of its terms or if you initiate litigation against Dr. Thayasivam or any contributor having used the Data Sets in accordance with these License Terms.

	You will be required to delete the Data Sets upon termination of the License for any reason.
